About 20 km far from San Martín de los Andes lies Mount Chapelco, one of the most important ski resorts in South America, especially for its lifts and its spectacular scenery.
Taking the cable car, a height of 1,600 m over sea level is reached. Afterwards, two chairlifts enable visitors (only skiers) to reach the summit, located 2,000 m over sea level, with a view of the Lanín, Villarica and Choshuenco volcanoes, along with other peaks that make up the Andes Mountain Range.
In the summer, the "Parque de la Aventura" is open. Activities such as horse-riding, hiking, mountain biking, archery and golf are practiced, and visitors can also enjoy the Andean slide.
The excursionists will return along a winding road that crosses the forest and offers splendid views of San Martín de los Andes and Lake Lácar from the heights, especially from the Arrayán Vantage Point.
